East Coast Swing is a lively, social partner dance that belongs to the swing dance family. Sometimes called Jitterbug, American Swing, or Eastern Swing, it gained major popularity in the U.S.A. during WWII and later made its way to Australia. It’s a high-energy style that’s danced to upbeat swing music, big band, rockabilly, boogie-woogie, and early rock & roll.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR - ANNALEE BECKMAN

Annalee Beckman is a professional choreographer, event producer, and dance instructor based in Brisbane. As the Creative Director of Unbar Dance, she produces and choreographs dance-themed events across the Brisbane Bayside.

Annalee has choreographed, performed, and taught across the U.S.A., Europe, and Australia, with experience in professional, independent, and education-based arts sectors. Her teaching includes Social Ballroom, Latin partner dance, and Ladies’ Latin solo classes. She’s performed at the Wynnum Fringe, where she received recognition in State Parliament from MP Joan Pease for her contribution to the arts.

Annalee brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to every class. She’s committed to inclusivity and creating a space where students can build confidence, creativity, and connection, no matter their experience level.
