Noir Nights Live! Featuring David Bently

David Bentley is an award winning jazz pianist, vocalist and songwriter. He has recorded several albums of original material and is known internationally as author of 70s classic, In A Broken Dream. That same track, retitled Every Day, recently resurfaced in the global charts as a remix by Harlem rapper Rocky A$ap. David also holds journalism’s most prestigious award, the Gold Walkley. His trio backed touring jazz greats like vibraphonist Milt Jackson and saxophonist Phil Woods. A Brisbane Jazz Club regular, he performs at many festivals.

Andrew Shaw is the bassist of choice not only for DB3 but for touring artists including US jazz stars like saxophonist Dave Liebman and guitarist John Scofield. Shaw performs in a diverse range of genres from jazz to world music and classical.

Nathan Goldman is a tasty and swinging jazz drummer whose style defies easy categorisation. Prominent in the Brisbane jazz scene for the past 16 years, Nathan has performed with renowned interstate and overseas touring artists including Dale Barlow, Matthew Jodrell, James Sherlock and Hetty Kate.

Mark Spencer studied in New York with saxophone greats George Coleman and Chris Potter before taking up a teaching position at the Queensland Conservatorium’ s jazz course from 2004 to 2008. Mark is renowned for his musicality, improvisational skill and masterly technique.
